How can I better prepare my body for these trying times ?
Is there a natural immunisation ?
Besides exercising, what else can I do to overcome this critical period ?
These are questions frequently asked these days.
And is there a single answer to it ? Of course not.
Every single person of the 7.778 billion people (1) on this planet today react very individually to all what’s going on around us. We all live a very different life in very different places on earth. Each of us has a different up-bringing, education or family history, yet we all belong to the human race. And there are some similarities :
Let me ask for some help here and introduce my friend Dr. Jobin J Madukkakuzhy from the Ayurveda Kerala organization in Kanjirappalli, India (2) . He is part of a traditional Ayurveda family in 8th generation. His mission is to make the benefits of Ayurveda to reach everyone. Let’s hear what he has to say :
“If you can’t go outside – go inside”
At first glance, yes of course we are all GOING and STAYING inside, right ? But that simple sentence goes way beyond the physical state of ‘where’ the body currently resides (Outside or inside the house). It means to me that we can also use these times to reflect on our inner self and re-connect body, mind and soul.
So what again is Ayurveda ?
“Ayurveda” is a compound word that implies two connected ideas – “ the science of life” and “the art of living”. A 5000 year old holistic medical system, advocating a way of life and emphasizes prevention of disease, rejuvenation of our body systems and longevity of life. Ayurveda provides an integrated approach to preventing and treating illness through lifestyle modifications and natural therapies.
… Dr. Jobin refers to water. Why is water so important ?
Our bodies contain 50 to 65% of water (3) (approximately 60-63% water for adult human males, and for the average adult female approximately 52-55%). Newborn babies even up to 93%)
Water performs a number of functions: as a solvent for transportation of nutrients; as a means for heat control; as a lubricant for joints; for shock absorption and as a medium to remove toxins from our body.
After we are properly hydrated, whats the second thing we can do ?
OK let’s define ‘Immunisation’ first :
In Wikipedia (4) we find :
In biology, immunity is the balanced state of multicellular organisms having adequate biological defenses to fight infection, disease, or other unwanted biological invasion, while having adequate tolerance to avoid allergy, and autoimmune diseases.
Nature has given us a lot of herbs, roots, plants, fruits, nuts and so on to not just nurture us, but also help our body to fight off infections and diseases. (Disclaimer : I am talking about general well-being here and not to fight off the SARS-CoV-2 virus specifically)
What does Dr. Jobin recommend for us ? :
So, with this combination we get Vitamin C (100g of Lemon supply 60% to 80% of our daily requirement – the peel has even more !) (5), while Ginger and Turmeric gives us support in digestion, anti-inflammatory and anti-infectious benefits (We absolutely have to keep our bodies free from any additional diseases and infections during this phase in time). Honey has natural antibiotic effects (6) and is a great substitute for processed sugars.
Re-connect mind, body and soul.
Love yourself - only then can you love and care for others.
… and while we all should be grateful to have gotten free advice from Dr. Jobin, in addition the HS-team has been running around to get you Lemon, Ginger and Turmeric (which is hard to find these days).
We even offer you very rare Honey from Sicily (7) to further boost your antibiotic defenses (The honey is produced from rare, almost extinct black bees. The product has shown better results than that made from Manuka trees).
We made a little package offer out of it,… if you like this blog, go ahead and buy one of it. It’s great for your health and we donate 50% to the charity “5-Loaves” which gives COVID-19 front-liners a well-deserved break in these tough times. (we share an up-date shortly)
Thank you very much for your support !
